NewLit Creative Writing Workshops
New Literary Project leads free creative writing workshops at high schools and afterschool programs throughout the Bay Area. Ninety percent of students come from underserved communities. These workshops are taught by Bonetti-Bell Fellows, who are creative writing teachers from The UC Berkeley, English Department, and Iris Starn Fellows, who are MFA candidates in Creative Writing from Saint Mary’s College of California in Moraga. In Spring of 2025, the Bonetti-Bell and Starn Fellows lead nine creative writing workshops at Girls Inc. of Alameda County (2), Mt. McKinley High School - Contra Costa County Juvenile Hall, Albany High School, Northgate High School, East Bay School of Performing Arts, Emery High, Concord High School, and LPS, Hayward.
