Counting Down to the NewLit Roadshow

New Literary Project is honored to invite you to SpeakOut NewLit, featuring the 2025 Joyce Carol Oates Prize Winners, NewLit All-Stars including this year’s JCO Prize Recipients and special guest Manuel Muñoz, dinner & drinks, Salsa Dancing & Salsa Lessons after the speaking program w Rhythm N’Flo, the world premiere of the short documentary SpeakOut NewLit: the First 10 Years, the unveiling of Simpsonistas, Vol. 7: Tales from New Literary Project, and so much more.

The world premiere of our NewLit documentary, SpeakOut NewLit: The First Ten Years highlights the work NewLit does supporting authors, creative writers who teach high school, teen writers, and grad student-fellows.

Plus, the evening will feature the 2025 Joyce Carol Oates Prize Recipients in conversation with Joe Di Prisco:

Jennine Capó Crucet, North Carolina, Say Hello to My Little Friend (Simon & Schuster)

and

 Willy Vlautin, Oregon, The Horse (Harper)

UC Berkeley - Maude Fife Room, Room 315, Wheeler Hall - in conversation with Professor Fiona McFarlane, Thursday, November 6; reception at 4pm, program at 5pm. Free.

Orinda Books - Meet Jennine Jennine Capó Crucet for a brief reading and Q&A at 2pm and Willy Vlautin for a brief reading and Q&A at 3pm on Saturday, November 8, at Orinda Books, 276 Village Square Orinda, CA 94563 - Free. Reserve your spot.
