Meet the 2026 Bonnie Bonetti-Bell Fellows

The Bonnie Bonetti-Bell Fellows are extraordinary creative writing teachers who are graduate students in the University of California, Berkeley, English Department. They are selected in consultation with New Literary Project and assigned to conduct workshops for traditionally underserved teenage and younger authors in a variety of school and afterschool settings. The workshops are subsidized by New Literary Project in partnership with Berkeley and offered free of charge.

NewLit Announces a New Partner: Hope Solutions

Founded in 1997, by a coalition of local faith communities, to provide emergency support to homeless individuals, Hope Solutions has grown to be a premier organization in Contra Costa County, reaching over 4,000 people with transformational housing and services.

NewLit’s 2026 Iris Starn Fellow Lucas Maas from Saint Mary’s College of California will provide creative writing workshops to adults in Hope Solutions housing, so they can write about their experiences and produce their own stories and poetry.

We’ll have more to share about this new partnership soon.
